winner of the 2018 MBAM Avenue Du Musée outdoor installation competition
Inspired by the exhibition From Africa to the Americas: Face-to-face Picasso, Past and Present being presented at the MBAM,                        this temporary installation, which was on view during the summer of 2018, was created by NÓS Architectes and produced in collaboration with MU. It takes us to the centre of an unfamiliar, geometric and abstract landscape. Through the presence of the dunes — motifs distorted by anamorphosis — Avenue Du Musée gains an expressive dimension and comes to life. Moving Dunes is meant to be a mirage in the heart of Montreal. Throughout the installation, we see the spheres reflecting the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ various pavilions, each of them unique for their architecture and history. Moving Dunes is a space in which the real and the virtual come face to face, mingle and stimulate the senses.
